Faculty Lead, Environmental Biogeochemistry Group
Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies

Faculty Director, Arikaree Environmental Lab
I am an interdisciplinary environmental scientist with a background in biogeochemistry and hydrology. I seek to understand how the flows of carbon, nutrients, and water are changed by human activities and how those changes may affect human welfare. My research projects include working with farmers, State Water Board officials, and extension specialists in California to determine the consequences of high sulfur use in agriculture and optimize management practices; studying the fate and transport of atmospheric nitrogen deposition in ecosystems of the Colorado Front Range; and collaborating with The National Geographic Society and outdoor guide staff to establish an international atmospheric deposition network in remote areas of the American Cordillera.
